A lover of stairs for as long as I can remember, the infatuation was rekindled when this photo and I crossed paths. I know for a fact you can buy mirror mosaic sheets at such lovely establishments as Display and Costume in Seattle, and many other crafty fabricy stores, but never had I imagined they could be put to such use. I am completely smitten..
These stairs could only be improved on by little foot-level lights pointing at them to create sparkly reflections all around the stairwell.

A library has been a dream of mine, but our space is so limited I thought it was impossible. The owners of this London flat brought a new option to the table {or stairway}. By combining their stairs and library, they have plenty of book storage as well as a visually fantastic staircase! This may be tricky to manage without rebuilding your entire stairs, but I will give it a try and report back to you on the results.

Stairs by Hogarth Architects
If new treads are on the horizon, I love the idea of huge beams for stairs, instead of the usual stair treatment. I love how rustic and modern this staircase feels.
Stairs by Garbage Architecture.
Garbage Architecture creates furniture and architectural elements from castoff wood and other materials. The salvaged stairs above look amazing, and are made entirely from garbage wood. Their website is full of great projects and inspiration.
Sometimes stairs look best left alone, in their beat up, worn out state. These stairs are fated to be painted white, and I am so sad. Why not just sand them, and polish the wood with some orange oil and beeswax? In the midst of a renovated house, a little history would go a long way.
